All K9 teams will be evaluated on obedience
and agility for every specialty
All decisions of the
evaluator (s) are final.
All certifications are
good for one year
Certification is $25.00
and is non refundable
Obedience
At the
discretion of the evaluator, the team will
be asked to perform a series of off leash
commands from the following list:
Heeling, all turns-left, right, about turns,
down-stays for 2 to 5 minutes, recall,
heeling under distractions, response to hand
signals. Evaluators look at control of
the dog, not sports-precision obedience.
Agility
The team will be
asked to maneuver over at least 4 out of 6
different agility obstacles in a natural
environment such as: walking over
grated flooring, climbing steep grades,
jumping obstacles, going thru a tunnel,
jumping thru a window, climbing steps.
Track/Trailing
Level One
Standards
The level one trail is to be aged 30 minutes
to 2 hours and will be approximately 1/2
mile in length. This will be a semi
urban trail, starting on a hard surface.
It can be laid in a city, residential, or
industrial environment, and can cover varied
surfaces. There is a one hour time
limit and the start can be with either a
scent article or a PLS. The nature of
this type of trail will ensure contamination
so not super extra efforts in this area need
done. The track layer will be hidden
on this trail.
Level Two
Standards
The level two trail is to be aged 6 to 12
hours and will be from 1 to 2 miles in
length. This trail can start in
wilderness, a field, or grassy area and can
cover many varied surfaces, and must have at
least one road crossing. There will be
a 1.5 hour time limit and will be started
with a scent article and within a group of
people. There will also be a known
cross track laid one hour prior to the start
of the evaluation. The track layer can
either be hidden, or within a second group
of people. If the track ends in a
group of people, the handler must describe
the K9's final response/alert such as a sit
or a bark.
On either level the
evaluator will know exactly where the trail
has been laid.
